Sandia Music Festival

First Annual Solo Competition

 

Rules:

1.     The SMF solo competition is open to any member of the 2011 Sandia Music Festival who is fully         registered and participating.

2.     Each competitor may only enter on one instrument.

3.     The first round will be judged by a panel of at least three SMF faculty members and will take         place on July 18 or 19th depending on scheduling.

4.     At least three  (3) finalists will be chosen to perform on a winner’s recital Friday evening, July 22.         This finalist recital will be judged by a panel of SMF faculty members. A grand prize ($100) as         well as an “audience favorite” prize will be awarded at the completion of the recital.

5.     Competitors may perform movement(s) from a concerto, sonata, suite or a single movement         work. Total length of performed repertoire may not exceed 15 minutes.

6.     Chosen works may be solo or accompanied. There will be no accompaniment allowed for the         Initial competition round. Accompaniment will be provided by SMF for the finalist recital (or         competitors may provide their own accompanist).

7.     All finalists utilizing the festival accompanist must provide piano scores for their chosen         repertoire.

8.     Memorization is optional.
